What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS - Every licensed dentists who desires to renew his or her license must file with the Board before the first (1st) of May in each even-numbered year. Continuing education is reported biennially. The biennial accrual period for continuing education is July 1st.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS - Every licensed dental hygienist who desires to renew his or her license must file with the Board before the first (1st) of May in each even-numbered year. Continuing education is reported biennially. The biennial accrual period for continuing education is July 1st.
ASSISTANTS - Every DAANCE-certified maxillofacial surgery assistant who desires to renew his or her license must file with the Board before the first (1st) of May in each even-numbered year. Continuing education is reported biennially. The biennial accrual period for continuing education is July 1st.

How Many Credits Do I Need?

DENTISTS - All dentists licensed to practice in Rhode Island shall maintain evidence that in the preceding two (2) years he or she has satisfactorily completed at least forty (40) hours of continuing dental education courses
DENTAL HYGIENISTS - Dental hygienist and public health dental hygienist licensees shall obtain a total of twenty (20) continuing education credits every two years
ASSISTANTS - Certified maxillofacial surgery assistant licensees shall obtain a total of twenty (20) continuing education credits every two years.

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS - "All dentists practicing in a dental setting shall receive a minimum of one (1) hour per year of training on the CDC Infection Control Guidelines All dentists practicing in a dental setting shall hold a current certificate of completion from an approved course in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers that includes a hands-on skill component and conforms to the current American Heart Association Guidelines Update for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), and is offered by any accredited agency approved by the Board"

Is There a Limit to The Number of Online Classes

Successful completion of a post-test is necessary to obtain credit for self-instructional courses.
